In most parts of the western world a woman being topless is either frowned upon, or illegal. This is our natural form, and we are forced by society to cover up. Breasts are how we feed our children, and we have to cover up in doing so. In summer if it’s too warm, we have to cover up whilst men can walk around freely with their tops off. Both genders have nipples, Just because I can feed young with mine, I have to hide them away unless I am in the privacy of my own home. Nature is a photography series in which I challenged these ideas. The models breasts are painted. This masks the nudity but still shows the form. The nude photos were taken outside, but in carefully selected places so that we would not be seen. The mask represents anonymity and to illustrate the ridiculousness that is the fact that the model is breaking the law in the moment that these images were taken. The images are double exposed with different scenes of nature to not only represent the female body being a natural thing, but to also show that women should be able to be in their natural form out in public and in nature if they so wish. This photo series demonstrates the issues that Fourth Wave Feminism supports in relation to the female body and female empowerment.
